Glossary

The language behind the system.

A quick guide to the mining, control and AI terms used across the Minealytics site.

Plain English

Terms you can use in the plant and the control room.

APC
Advanced process control. Control strategies that use process models and constraints to improve stability and performance.
AGI
Artificial general intelligence. A broad research term. Minealytics uses Autonomous Mine Intelligence for its plant-level intelligence layer so the operating role is clearer.
DCS
Distributed control system. The plant control platform that monitors and controls process equipment.
PLC
Programmable logic controller. Industrial control hardware that executes logic and interlocks close to equipment.
SCADA
Supervisory control and data acquisition. Software and communications used to monitor and supervise industrial systems.
PCS
Process control system. A general term for the control environment used to operate a process plant.
Soft sensor
A model that estimates a process variable that is difficult, slow or expensive to measure directly.
P80
A size-distribution measure. P80 is the particle size below which 80 percent of the measured material passes.
RL
Reinforcement learning. A machine-learning approach that learns a policy through actions, feedback and a defined objective.
MPC
Model predictive control. A controller that forecasts process behaviour and selects actions while respecting constraints.
OEE
Overall equipment effectiveness. A combined view of availability, performance and quality used to assess equipment productivity.
ROM
Run of mine. Material delivered from mining to the processing plant before it is treated.
